astrocytes on the brain

Astrocytes (from Ancient Greek ἄστρον, ástron, "star" and κύτος, kútos, "cavity", "cell"), also known collectively as astroglia, are characteristic star-shaped glial cells in the brain and spinal cord. They perform many functions, including biochemical control of endothelial cells that form the blood–brain barrier, provision of nutrients to the nervous tissue, maintenance of extracellular ion balance, regulation of cerebral blood flow, and a role in the repair and scarring process of the brain and spinal cord following infection and traumatic injuries. The proportion of astrocytes in the brain is not well defined; depending on the counting technique used, studies have found that the astrocyte proportion varies by region and ranges from 20% to around 40% of all glia. Another study reports that astrocytes are the most numerous cell type in the brain. Astrocytes are the major source of cholesterol in the central nervous system. Apolipoprotein E transports cholesterol from astrocytes to neurons and other glial cells, regulating cell signaling in the brain. Astrocytes in humans are more than twenty times larger than in rodent brains, and make contact with more than ten times the number of synapses.
Pinealocytes are the main cells contained in the pineal gland, located behind the third ventricle and between the two hemispheres of the brain. The primary function of the pinealocytes is the secretion of the hormone melatonin, important in the regulation of circadian rhythms. In humans, the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus communicates the message of darkness to the pinealocytes, and as a result, controls the day and night cycle. It has been suggested that pinealocytes are derived from photoreceptor cells. Research has also shown the decline in the number of pinealocytes by way of apoptosis as the age of the organism increases. There are two different types of pinealocytes, type I and type II, which have been classified based on certain properties including shape, presence or absence of infolding of the nuclear envelope, and composition of the cytoplasm.

Explanation is one thing, meditation another; both are necessary. So we shall let the heart speak, without concern for what men may say. The Spirit "bloweth where it listeth," and not where men desire. Truth is that which is, not what men imagine. The Destiny of the Earth is written in the Sun and Moon, and not in the science of men. The heredity of the "person" is written in his liver, not in human records. His destiny can be read in his eyes, his hands, his face, but these are to men a secret cipher. His true "name" is the impulse which brought him to earth; only his appearance has a name among men. The place which has drawn him down to human earth is his country of adoption. If the throne of his heart is empty, then the end of life for him will have all the horror of endless exile. But if his heart is the throne of his immortal Self, then his true country is the place in Heaven whence he descended, and his place of exile is among men.

Each of its appearances is an individuation of
The Root cosmic functions,
a nd each in dividual in carnates
the faculties of assimilation and reproduction.

 Physical appearances are a reflection
 of the activity of life
 on the plane of principles,
 and to understand this reflection
is to know the working of Causes.
It is madness to try to exploit the vital powers for personal ends. The world admires those who are so mad,
but death is the end of them.
 The sage espouses harmony,
and accepts hindrances as a means
of working for liber at ion.

 The world scouts the sage,
but for him death is the entrance into indestructible life.
So the question remains: What is Life?
Life is the Divine Presence,
the Word made flesh,
Whose becoming is genesis.

The flesh, thus living,
 receives an irresistible current
of life from the conjunction of Cosmic powers,

and creates  a reflection of their functions.
in the appearance and disappearance of matter

These functions seem like a natural process
 predestined and irreversible,
but which can be temporarily halted in forms.
 Form is destructible,
 AND
 Life is not;
 it knows nothing of death.
It destroys the mortal mercilessly,
 and decomposes the destructible.

But the indestructible remains. Being immortal,
it carries within it the means of regeneration
even as the means of destruction.
 There is only one stream,
AND each thing draws from the stream
 a different watter,
according to the quality of its vessel,
that is, its Capacity for dC-Wire.

Each new activity of life proceeds from a formal death.
The grain that does not rot in the ground cannot grow;
AND its product can only be other grain like the first.
 Life is consciousness,
and enlarges itself by extending the limits of form.

Man has the power to generate
in his lifetime his immortal being,
and thus
when his successive limiting forms
 have been destroyed
 and his inharmonious elements consumed,
he will rise from his ashes.

Matter, which belongs within the limitations of form,
does not desire this regeneration.
This gestation of the immortal being
requires an impulse from outside Nature,
and the Life which produces this regeneration
 is above
 Nature
This is the mystery of the expression "Son of Man."
